A Beginner’s Guide To Skincare

It’s no longer news that skincare has become one of the top focus in the beauty industry. This is not surprising because when it comes to facial skincare, you have to take better care of your skin to get the glow and popping makeup look. Moreover, you want to be able to go out without makeup on some days, right?!

Due to so many information (and misinformation) out there, figuring out what to use can be overwhelming. So, I thought to share this beginner’s guide to skincare with you. The basic products needed can be categorized into three (3) essential steps; Cleanser, Moisturizer And Sunscreen. Yes, you read that right…Less Is More!

  • Cleanser – Using a cleanser is the first step in skincare. This helps to get rid of dead skin cells, makeup, oil, dirt etc. from the skin of the face. There are different types of cleansers based on your skin type. Check out this post on my top 5 face cleansers.
  • Moisturizer – Moisturizers help to keep the skin hydrated, looking younger and protected in cold and drying environments. They can be in form emollients, occlusive or humectants. Check out this post on my top face moisturizers.
  • Sunscreen – This is the final step in any skincare routine. Sunscreens come in the form of lotions, gels, sprays etc. They help protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays, which cause premature aging, dark spots, sunburns and skin cancer. Check out this post on my top 5 sunscreens.

With these three (3) essential steps, you’ll be well on your way to having a good skincare routine. Adding serums, treatments, exfoliators and any other type of product can come later in your skincare journey and I’ll write about this in another post. I hope this beginner’s guide helps.
