Beauty Tips : How To Layer Skincare Products

Taking good care of your skin is so in!! and I’m really glad to see that everyone including men are conscious of how their skin looks now. So, in a bid to take better care of your skin, you go out to buy skincare products and start using them but after a while, you don’t see any improvement on your skin 🙁 .

Just before you abandon or throw out the products, let’s talk about how to Layer Skincare Products to get the best results. Skincare Layering is the process of applying products in a particular order…basically from the thinnest to the thickest in texture. Yes, the order of product application really matter because the whole idea is to give your skin the full benefits of each of the products you apply to it. So, before we begin, please note that this is just my general recommendation as there’s no one-size-fits-all skincare routine for everyone. You may add or remove some products based on your needs and skincare concerns.

How To Layer Skincare Products

Step 1 : Cleanser – During the day or night, always start with a cleanser. I’ve been using this cleanser for a long time but decided to try this and this. They all clean my face gently and give me a clear skin to start with.

Step 2 : Toner – Follow with a toner to fully prep the skin (day and night) . I currently use the Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Rose Petal Toner. Have you guys read the post about my top 5 toners ? You can choose any that best suits your skin from the list.

Step 3 : Acne Treatment – If you use any spot or acne treatments, this is when to add it in (only at night). I’ve been using the Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel for a while now but am currently trying out the ProActiveMD Acne Treatment Gel. It’s super light weight and made with adapalene.

Step 4 : Serum – The next step is to layer on your favorite serum (only at night). There are so many on the market right now, so be sure to do some research to find out which works best for your skin type. I recently got the Lancôme Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Serum. It brightens my face and gives it a beautiful radiance…love it!

Step 5 : Eye Cream – The skin around the eyes are very delicate, so it’s important to keep it hydrated. I never used to care so much as applying eye creams but since I’ve been using the Origins eye creams, there’s been a whole lot of difference and my undereye area looks brighter now. Apply only at night.

Step 6 : Moisturizer or Face Oil – The best way to seal up your skincare routine is with a moisturizer or face oil (day and night) . I’m not very comfortable with having oil on my face, so, I stick to moisturizers like these to hydrate my skin.

Step 7 : Sunscreen – Applying sunscreen should be part of your morning routine right after applying moisturizers to protect your skin from sunburn, premature aging, cancer etc . I recently started using these but you can check out this list of my top 5 sunscreen products.

And there you go! We each have unique skin and our own set of skincare concerns and goals, so the bottom line is that you have to find a routine that works best for you.
