AMERiCANAH by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I started writing about my personal daily experiences about five (5) years back and I posted them on Facebook to have them stored somewhere like an archive just incase I could not find the ones I wrote in ‘black and white’. Then, a dear friend of mine would read and tell me how well written they were and that I should consider writing professionally but I never really was interested in such. After some time, he told me about Chimamanda Adichie and said I should get her book that I would love it as I wrote similarly, although not as professional as she does.

So I borrowed her first book ‘The Thing Around Your Neck’ off another friend who also loves to read and I was captivated by her style of writing which was just perfect for me. The littlest of details, the depth, the originality, the feeling of belonging were some of the things that appealed to me. And so, I never looked back, I went on to buy ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ and ‘Purple Hibiscus’.

After a long while, I started to yearn for a good read, a really good one. As though, Chimamanda heard my poor cry, she came out with ‘AMERiCANAH’ which is her latest and fast selling book. This book had me bound. It took me through several aspects of life and made me feel the realness of all the occurrences. It just really had this truth, purity, about it. I got to page 477 and flipped for more ’cause I couldn’t get enough of it. Yes,it was really that interesting!
