Beauty Habits That Help Me Survive the Lagos Heat

Lagos heat humbles everyone 🙁 . No matter how well you plan your day, the moment you step outside you realize one thing: This weather has its own agenda.

Over time, I’ve developed a few small beauty habits that help me stay comfortable. Nothing complicated…just simple and realistic adjustments. Let’s check them out:

Showering at the Right Time

A quick shower in the morning is good. But during extremely hot days, an evening shower is just as important.

It removes:

  • sweat

  • sunscreen

  • dust

  • pollution from the day.

Your skin feels lighter and cleaner afterward.

Carrying a Mini Freshness Kit

When the heat is intense, small things make a difference. My mini kit usually includes:

  • blotting paper

  • lip balm

  • a small perfume

  • face wipes.

It helps me refresh my face without ruining my skincare or makeup…and that small perfume keeps a girl smelling fresh all day *winks*

Drinking More Water Than Usual

Sweating means your body is losing fluids. When you’re dehydrated, your skin can start looking:

  • dull

  • tired

  • irritated.

Drinking enough water keeps your skin looking healthier and you feel more energized.

Keeping Makeup Simple

Heavy makeup during extreme heat rarely survives. So I focus on:

  • light base products

  • cream blush

  • lip gloss.

The goal is to look fresh, not perfectly matte.

Moisturizing My Body Properly

It’s tempting to skip lotion when it’s hot. But dry skin in heat can feel:

  • itchy

  • uncomfortable

  • tight.

A light body lotion keeps skin smooth without feeling sticky. Here are some recommendations for you to try out.

Lagos heat may not be comfortable but it doesn’t have to ruin your beauty routine. Sometimes the solution is: simplifying your routine, choosing lighter products and being gentle with your skin.

Beauty during hot weather is less about perfection and more about comfort.

Stay safe out there, Glam Beauties!
