Somewhere along the way, skincare became synonymous with your face. The serums, the actives, the ingredient-led routines…all of it focused from the neck up. Meanwhile the rest of your skin, which is the largest organ you have, gets a quick lotion application if it’s lucky 🙁
I don’t think that’s good enough. And my body care routine reflects that.

It starts in the shower
Exfoliation is where body care either begins properly or gets skipped entirely. A good body scrub a few times a week removes dead skin buildup, improves texture, and means whatever you apply afterwards actually absorbs rather than just sitting on the surface.

The Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrubs are my go-to. They exfoliate well, smell incredible, and leave skin soft without needing ten extra steps after.
Then you moisturize…properly
Not a token application on the way out of the bathroom. Properly. On damp skin, before you’ve fully dried off, so the moisture seals in rather than evaporating before the lotion even absorbs.

I use the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion as my everyday base. It’s consistent, reliable, and works for all skin types without any fuss. On days when my skin needs more, I layer the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Oil Mist on top. The combination keeps skin genuinely hydrated rather than just coated.

Don’t forget the actives
Your face gets niacinamide and glycolic acid. Your body deserves the same attention. The Alpha Skin Care Renewal Body Lotion with 12% Glycolic AHA is one of the most underrated products in the boutique.

When used consistently, it smooths texture, evens tone, and keeps skin looking healthy over time. In Lagos where you’re showing skin year-round, this one earns its place.
Why it matters more than people think
Body skin deals with everything…friction from clothing, sun exposure, shaving or waxing, dry harmattan air, and Lagos humidity in turns. Neglecting it shows, even when you can’t immediately see it. And when you do want to show skin…for an occasion, a trip, a good day…well-cared-for body skin makes a difference that no amount of last-minute lotion can replicate.
Your body care routine doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be consistent.
All the products mentioned are available at @glamosphereboutique — August is actually a great time to stock up! 😀
Hugs and Kisses,
Msglam
