An Honest Review of My Skincare Routine After 3 Months

In June I came back to the blog and shared exactly what was on my skincare shelf. Three months later, I think it’s worth being honest about how that routine has actually been performing. Not in theory but in practice.

The short version: it’s working. The slightly longer version is below.

What I’ve been doing consistently

The routine hasn’t changed since June. PanOxyl Foaming Wash to cleanse, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid a few nights a week, The Ordinary Niacinamide daily, Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer and Black Girl Sunscreen every morning without exception. No new additions. No swaps. Just the same products, showing up consistently.

What consistency has actually done

This is the part I want to be clear about because I think it gets lost in the noise of new launches and trending ingredients: consistency with the right products is more powerful than constantly switching to something better.

Three months of the same routine means my skin has had time to actually respond. The niacinamide has had enough time to work on tone and oil control. The glycolic acid has had enough time to smooth texture. The barrier is calmer. The breakouts are less frequent. None of this happened dramatically. It happened gradually, which is exactly how good skincare is supposed to work.

What I’ve learned from coming back

Taking time away from blogging didn’t mean my routine fell apart, but coming back reminded me why I write about this in the first place. There’s real value in keeping things simple, staying consistent and resisting the urge to add more just because it’s available.

The honest verdict

If you’ve been following along and wondering whether the products I recommend actually hold up…this is your answer. Simple, consistent, mid-range skincare works. You don’t need more than what works.

Hugs and Kisses,
