Glow Through Fasting: Skincare Tips for Ramadan and Lent

Fasting during Ramadan and Lent is such a beautiful experience, but let’s be honest, your skin might not always agree. Long hours without water, changes in your sleep routine and all those irresistible fried treats can leave your skin feeling dry, dull or even breaking out. But don’t worry, I’ve got you! 🙂 . Here’s how to keep your skin fresh, hydrated and glowing all month long.

1. Hydration is Everything

Since you’re not drinking water for most of the day, your skin needs all the help it can get. The trick? Hydrate smartly.

  • Instead of chugging water all at once, drink small amounts throughout the night.
  • Eat water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumbers and oranges to boost hydration.
  • Cut back on caffeine (yes, that means less coffee and tea, sorry!) since it dehydrates your body.
2. Keep Your Skincare Routine Simple

Now’s not the time for a complicated 10-step skincare routine. Your skin needs hydration, protection and rest. That’s it!

  • Use a gentle cleanser that won’t strip your skin’s moisture.
  • Apply a lightweight moisturizer to to seal in moisture.
  • If your skin feels dry, a hydrating face mist can refresh you instantly.
3. Eat for Healthy, Radiant Skin

Your diet has a bigger impact on your skin than you might realize. To keep that glow intact:

  • Healthy fats like avocados and nuts keep your skin soft and nourished.
  • Fruits and veggies with antioxidants (like dates, berries and spinach) help fight dullness.
  • Try to limit fried and sugary foods. I know they taste amazing but they can lead to breakouts.
4. Get Enough Rest

I get it! Between late-night prayers and early Suhoor (for Ramadan), sleep feels like a luxury. But trust me, your skin needs rest!

  • If you can, try to sneak in naps during the day, to make up for lost sleep. Even 20 minutes can help.
  • A hydrating overnight mask can help your skin recover while you rest.
  • If you wake up with puffy eyes, try a cool eye gel or even a cold spoon!
5. Don’t Skip Sun Protection

Even if you’re indoors most of the time, your skin still needs protection.

  • Apply a light, non-greasy sunscreen to prevent dryness and sun damage.
  • If you’re outside, wearing sunglasses or a hat helps too.
6. Keep Makeup Light & Breathable

If you wear makeup, go for a fresh, natural look.

  • Swap heavy foundation for a BB cream or tinted moisturizer.
  • A hydrating lip balm keeps your lips soft and prevents dryness.
  • Cream blush and highlighter give a natural, effortless glow.

Fasting doesn’t mean your skin has to suffer! With a little extra care, you can keep your skin fresh and glowing throughout Ramadan and Lent. Hydrate, eat well, keep your routine simple and most importantly, be kind to yourself!
